Ingredients
- 4oz plain flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/4 pint of milk
- 1 oz caster sugar (optional)
- 1/2 oz margarine
Directions
- Sieve dry ingredients
- Stir in sugar
- Add eggs and milk and mix to think batter
- Melt margarine and stir in. Optionally rub melted margarine into flour before making batter
- The batter should drop easily from a spoon, or when poured from a jug
- Set heat to medium
- Drop spoonful of batter about 2.5 - 3 inches across on to pan
- When bubbles appear turn with round bladed spatula
- Allow to cool in folds of clean tea towel to keep soft. (if you get the chance!)
