Drop Scones

Family, drop scones recipes. Best eaten hot

Ingredients

  • 4oz plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 pint of milk
  • 1 oz caster sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 oz margarine

Directions

  1. Sieve dry ingredients
  2. Stir in sugar
  3. Add eggs and milk and mix to think batter
  4. Melt margarine and stir in. Optionally rub melted margarine into flour before making batter
  5. The batter should drop easily from a spoon, or when poured from a jug
  6. Set heat to medium
  7. Drop spoonful of batter about 2.5 - 3 inches across on to pan
  8. When bubbles appear turn with round bladed spatula
  9. Allow to cool in folds of clean tea towel to keep soft. (if you get the chance!)
