Simple Potato Au Gratin

Ingredients

  • 45g unsalted butter
  • 28g all-purpose flour
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 475ml milk
  • 128g shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 medium thinly sliced potatoes
  • 2 Red onion, diced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° C
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat.
  3. Stir in flour and pepper until smooth.
  4. Gradually add milk.
  5. cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted.
  7. Add potatoes and onion.
  8. Transfer to a baking dish, cover and bake for 1 hour.
  9. Uncover and make for another bake for 30-40 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
