Apple Scones

I grew up with a large number of cooking apple trees in the garden, which meant I spent a lot of time eating apple scones.

Ingredients

  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 60g unsalted butter
  • 2 tbs of caster sugar
  • 4 tbs of milk
  • 2 small cooking apples, grated

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 220 Celsius
  2. Cut the butter into cubes and keep in the freezer before using.
  3. Sieve flour into a bowl
  4. Cut-Rub the butter into flour until it’s like breadcrumbs.
  5. Add the apple and sugar and mix.
  6. Add the milk and mix into a ball
  7. Roll out the mixture on a floured surface.
  8. Cut circles out with a cutter and place them on a greased baking tray.
  9. Brush down with milk.
  10. Bake for 10 minutes in the oven or until golden
  11. Allow to cool on a wire rack
